"Do Good" April 24 - June 12, 2022

If Christians are saved by grace, does it matter how they live their lives?  Can’t they just live like the culture they are a part of and blend in?  The Apostle Paul instructs us to do good so that our witness to the unbelieving world will be unique, attractive and draw them to the Savior.   Do good because doing good matters!

Join us April 24th through June 12, 2022 at 9am and 11am, for "Do Good" in person or join us on Facebook Live for all services.

Welcome to First Baptist Church

The world is longing for hope. We believe that hope is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ, and loving and being loved by His community of followers. Our goal is to infuse the hope of Christ in unexpected ways and help move people into action to live a life transformed.

  • Theology of Doing Good - May 22, 2022

Have you ever considered the thought that if Gods grace is so powerful and His forgiveness so BIG, why should I live a good life on this earth? Why not go out and eat, drink, and be merry? After all, you only go around once in life so why not grab all the gusto you can get? Why not just ask for forgiveness at the last minute? After all, isnt it just easier to ask for forgiveness than permission?

In our study through the book of Titus, weve learned that Paul was writing to this young pastor Titus on the island of Crete. The Cretans were notorious for lying, cheating, sleeping around, and living lives that were despicable. The new converts to Christianity had started out well living righteously but soon they were falling back into their old ways and living just like their unsaved Cretan brothers and sisters. They were destroying their testimony of what Christ had done for them.

In Pauls letter to Titus, he wrote to encourage this young pastor to mentor the people he was entrusted with on the island of Crete. After addressing 5 groups of people (2:1-10), he proceeded to give them a theology for doing good. Lets investigate this.

  • The Power of Good Mentoring - May 15, 2022

Do you have someone in your life that you look up to someone who is a role model? Do you have someone who is a mentor to you showing you how to live the Christian life?

God has placed Christian people in our lives either formally or informally and they can be great examples of what living the Christian life is all about. We all need models and these gifts from God are known as mentors. Their influence is known as mentoring.

In the Christian faith, what is mentoring? It is bringing your life up close to another person and helping them become more like Jesus Christ. It is about more than self-improvement or personal development. It is allowing the Holy Spirit to grow you up in Christ and then helping others put their faith into action. Both the one mentored and the one mentoring benefit!

In Pauls letter to Titus, he wrote to encourage this young pastor to mentor the people he was entrusted with on the island of Crete. He addressed 5 groups of people. Lets discover the instructions Paul gave to Titus for each of these groups.
