What is the greatest expression of forgiveness you have ever received from someone? Did it come with a great deal of sacrifice and compassion on their part? How did you feel afterward? Were you extremely appreciative and wanting to do something to try and repay it? Have you ever forgiven someone in a deep way who hurt you?
Jesus shows the extent of the forgiveness He is willing to offer when one wayward person comes to Him.

Can you identify the people in your neighborhood who are outcasts? Can you name the people at work that no one associates with? Can you recall the people at school who were social outcasts? Are there people in your community that others shun? I think we can answer these questions quite easily.
In our Bible story today, we encounter a person who was truly an outcast. This man was hated because he had one of the most despised professions of his day. Jesus cam upon this tax collector and He saw something no one else saw--a person in need of a Savior.

God often gives us encounters with people He has set in our path that we never expected but it turns out to be a divine appointment. A divine appointment is a God-directed meeting of people where we have the opportunity to share our testimony and/or the gospel so that others might come to faith in Jesus Christ.
Throughout our life, there are many appointments that we miss. It isn't God's fault but rather our inability to discern that we are in the midst of a divine appointment. God places you and me in divine appointments nearly every day and wants us to share our faith in Jesus with people who don't yet know him.

In the story of Daniel, we're introduced to a young man with strong convictions. Taken into captivity in Babylon from the kingdom of Judah after the fall of Jerusalem in approximately 70 A.D, Daniel was chosen by King Nebuchadnezzar to be one of the choice servants who would serve in the palace. He was a bright, healthy teenager whom, along with 3 of his friends, were chosen by the king to be "re-educated" in the ways of the Babylonians.
But Daniel determined that the ways of the Babylonians were contrary to God's ways. He was convicted that he should not do what his pagan culture taught and influence others also.
One person who stands on their convictions can influence other to live counter-culturally.

The parable of the prodigal son is a story of how loving God is and how people can be restored to a right relationship with Him. This subject should be of great interest to everybody because we all tend to drift or depart from a healthy and joyous relationship with God.
This parable certainly applies to those who are not Christians by showing them how to have a right relationship with God. This parable also applies to Christians whose relationship with God is not what it should be.
In either case, this story shows us how we can be restored to a right relationship with God.

Have you ever considered the power of one? Dwight L. Moody, a famous evangelist of the 19th century, once said, "The world has yet to see what God can do with a man fully consecrated to Him. By God's help, I aim to be that man."
In our new sermon series, we're going to explore how to be that man or women fully consecrated to God. We're going to explore how to be one and, in turn, reach one.

God has placed eternity in our hearts (Eccl. 3:11) so that we as human beings have an understanding in our spirits of a life after this life. There is something that reveals that this life is not all there is.
But is heaven a Real Place? What do you know about this place people call heaven? What is the biggest question you have about heaven?
Scripture says heaven is the ultimate reward of every believer in Christ. Click on the image to the left to watch "Is Heaven a Real Place?" recorded September 9, 2018.
There are so many different ideas in the world about where people go when they die. Some believe we just go into the ground and that is it. Christianity teaches that there is a life after this.
The Bible is clear about the existence of heaven and hell. Join us as Pastor Rindels expands on this topic through the story of the rich man and Lazarus.

In the Bible, we read about a NEW heaven and a NEW earth. Have you ever wondered about that? What does that mean? What does it mean that the scripture talks about the earth being destroyed at the end of time? Is this destruction permanent or will there be a re-creation of the earth? And will there really be heaven on earth?

Have you ever thought about what we will do in heaven? In many books, TV shows and movies, heaven is portrayed as a boring place where people will just sit around strumming a harp and polishing the streets of gold. Or, we will be in a perpetual worship service bored and wishing it would soon end.

Do you love your body? Most people wish they could change some things about their body. They would like to be thinner, or taller, or have a better complexion, or have no disabilities, or have less aches and pains, or live longer.
The Apostle Paul talked about an ultimate make-over that will one day occur for all believers when we get to heaven. Our bodies will not be like they are now. They will be transformed from natural bodies to spiritual bodies.

Chronologically, when we talk about heaven, there are a sequence of events that will take place at the end of time. They are: 1) The Rapture of the Church, 2) The Great Tribulation, 3) The Battle of Armageddon, 4) The 2nd Coming of Christ, 5) The Millennial Kingdom, 6) The Great White Throne of Judgement, and 7) The creation of a new heaven and new earth.
The Bible verses that talk the most about this event are found in the book of Revelation. In exile on the island of Patmos, God gave the Apostle John a vision of this time. The millennium will be a time like nothing we've ever experienced.

Do you prefer the country or the city? Probably most of us living here in Nevada County prefer the country better or we wouldn't be living here, right? But there is something intriguing about cities.
The Bible talks about a city in heaven that all believers will live in one day. It's called the New Jerusalem. As we look into the book of Revelation, we learn a lot about this city.

God has created us as worshippers. Built into every human being is the propensity to worship. We were originally created to worship God. In the Garden of Eden, God placed Adam and Eve there in their perfect home to enjoy His creation and to worship Him. Before the fall of man and sin came into the world, Adam and Eve knew nothing but perfect worship.
But with the fall of man came a distortion of worship. When we get to heaven, all the original plans of God will be restored. We will get back to worshipping God like we were intended to do. The worship scene we see portrayed in our text gives us a taste of what will happen in heaven.

When people die, it is assumed by a majority of people in this country that they will go to heaven. Nearly everyone wants to go to heaven. For every American who believes he's going to Hell, there are 120 who believe they're going to Heaven. But what are the 120 basing their belief on?
The Bible is very clear that the gate is narrow that leads to eternal life and broad that leads to hell but God reveals His plan for eternal life.

Relationships are such a huge part of our lives. We all want family and friends to love and to spend time with. God has created us to be in relationship with one another. So do relationships end just because our time on this earth has ended? What will our relationships be like in Heaven?
The Bible shows us much about heavenly relationships. Our relationships will be so much deeper and fuller than they are on earth but...
